Wayne City Girl Collects Duffel Bags For DCFS
Chesnie Johnston, a 10 year old from Wayne City, saw a need and decided to
do something about it. Her mom, Teri Johnston, read her a story from
Chicken Soup for the Soul about kids that are removed from their homes as
a result of abuse and neglect and how their belongings are placed in a
garbage bag. Chesnie was moved by this and together with her mom began "Chesnie
Cares." She now collects duffel bags and stuffed animals to donate to DCFS.
Her goal is to give the kids something so that they have something to call
their own. She recently took her first offering, 70 bags, to DCFS earlier
this month. Listeners are invited drop off additional duffel bags at the studio
of WVYN Radio at 212 N. Main Street in Wayne City. They can be gently used.
Center Stage Winner Now On The Radio
Jared Mitchell of Norris City was the recent winner of the "Center Stage" singing contest at Godstock in Fairfield. He is shown (above) singing "Famous One' with Sonicflood. He recently was invited to Nashville, TN by Phil Baquie of Sonicflood to record a song in his studio. They produced a cover version of "By Your Side" which was originally recorded by Tenth Avenue North. We are currently programming Jared's version of the song in regular rotation on 90.9 The Vine. FFH Concert Enjoyed By Many In McLeansboro
Several hundred people turned out to enjoy the legendary Christian Band, FFH, live in concert at the Hamilton County High School Gymnasium. The group played their former #1 hits mixed in with some new music and a medley of Christian standards. More pictures can be viewed in our Photo Gallery.
Local GA's Visit 90.9 The Vine Studios
The Local GA's (Girls in Action) group from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, just north of Mt. Vernon, recently visited the studios of Real Life Radio and spent a little time talking live on-the-air with Brian Fuller. The girls were joined by their adult leaders, Tracy Boss and Pam Ford.
